SPC performs diversified functional industrial electroplating including: gold, silver, palladium and palladium-nickel, rhodium, cobalt, zinc, zinc-nickel and zinc-cobalt, tin-zinc, nickel, electroless-nickel, -gold, and -copper, tin and tin-lead, anodizing, irriditing, alodine, cadmium, phosphate, passivate. Any of these finishes can utilize the rack, barrel or reel-to-reel plating methods.

Refer to our PLATING CAPABILITIES CHART.

In particular, reel-to-reel capabilities are quite extensive at Sharretts. Stripe, spot and controlled depth selective platings are options that are available for reel-to- reel jobs. For wear resistance with high-tech conductive functionality, we offer a plating array of copper, nickel, palladium, palladium-nickel and cobalt hardened gold. This type of plating specification is complex and the finished product must meet very stringent environmental testing guidelines.

At Sharretts, we design and build nearly all of our reel-to-reel plating equipment. Our lines take all volumes into consideration, from lines that are 15 feet long to lines more than 600 feet in length. As a result, we can service very small or prototype volumes to the largest of production jobs. We apply various types of plating onto pre-plated flat stock material as well as single carrier, double carrier and bandaleered formed contact parts.

For customers who want the ultimate economic benefit of the best manufacturability option, we offer plating of all types onto flat stock followed by slitting of the wide stock to the specified die width. Sharretts' slitting operation specializes in narrower widths with both traverse wound coils as well as pancakes. In addition to plating and slitting services, we offer base metal acquisition and the additional value of stocking of products to our customers.

Sharretts utilizes varying-sized barrels ranging from three inches in diameter by four inches long to 28 inches in diameter by four feet long. The variety allows us to electroplate any volume of job using different plating processes. We are able to service customers with small and large volumes ranging from dozens of pieces or pounds to billions of pieces and millions of pounds.

Additionally, we offer rack plating to our customers to handle their respective material under a given plating process. Volumes range from one piece to millions of pieces and from less than a pound to millions of pounds produced per year.

Sharretts also utilized mechanical plating and galvanizing. While there are several metals that can be mechanically plated, we specialize in mechanical zinc plating. This process is designed to control very tight thickness distribution in order to provide the customer with consistency, repeatability, and reliability at a competitive price. The chemical and metal feeder system is totally automated so that the thickness and distribution can be controlled to within three sigma! Volumes range from hundreds of pounds to millions of pounds.
